Harry Potter in Concert: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I’m a very lucky girl to be writing this post as last Wednesday I was fortunate enough to go to Harry Potter in Concert. My twenty-second birthday is coming up at the end of November and my boyfriend Cameron saw an advert for Harry Potter in Concert. He asked if I wanted to go as an early birthday treat.

Obviously,Β I said yes!

I had no idea that an event like this even happened and it was only on for two nights. That is why we had to go early and not closer to my birthday. What made it even more special was that the event was held at the Royal Albert Hall. If you’ve ever been it is a stunning venue with something magical about it too!

The Event Itself:

The event was absolutely amazing! We sat and watched ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’. The way the whole thing was executed was outstanding. You’d think that you’d notice that there was a live orchestra (the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra) as none of the music in the film is actually used. All music is live but I found myself being so immersed that I forgot there was an orchestra at all. The only major difference is that the film is subtitled but you don’t even really notice, they’re just there to aid you when the music is a bit louder.

The music flowed seamlessly and made the film even more comical and enjoyable than before.

Especially when Aunt Marge blows up and the dramatic scenes between Professor Lupin, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew unfold. An interval in the middle made the event feel more like it would at a theatre show too which made the atmosphere even better. Although the queue for ice cream was very long and you can’t not have ice cream!

Final Words:

Also, even though our seats were on the side of the Royal Albert Hall, as you can see from the photograph that didn’t affect us. The seats all swivel so you can turn and face the front. Therefore, the view is still amazing regardless of where you’re sat!

I have only words of praise for the event but it probably helps that I am a massive ‘Potterhead’. Cameron even bought me a program to remember the occasion. If you get the chance to go to one of these shows then I urge you to do so, I’m already looking at when the other films are showing to see if I can see those too!

For now though, it’s time for me to go. Mischief Managed! asΒ Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs would say.

As always though,I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!’

    1. Imogen Chloe says:

It really was! You definitely should, it wasn’t too badly priced either considering where it was and what it is if that makes sense and obviously just like a normal theatre show the tickets vary in price. We got slightly cheaper ones as booked late so were sat on the side but the seats swivel so you can turn and face the front if you’re on the sides! Fab view regardless!

  10. Fantastic you enjoyed the Show – it really is a brilliant venue to hear music. A few years ago, we saw The Who (the rock group) there. They were superb.

Have you been to the HP museum place near Watford……I’m guessing you have !?? That gets good reviews, my wife is off there next year. And she has tickets for the live theatre show as well. She is a big HP fan.

    1. Imogen Chloe says:

Thank you! I went with my family several years ago now to the Christmas carol concert, that was beautiful! It really is an amazing venue! Of course I have, I have actually been twice! I went just under 5 years ago when it had the Christmas exhibition there and I also went again this year – it was amazing to see how much had changed! Not to self promote but if she wants a little sneak peek I wrote a blog post all about it – https://imogenchloe.co.uk/the-making-of-harry-potter I’m a huge fan too so it was an amazing experience for me, we spent over 5 hours at the Warner Bros Tour! xx

      1. My dad used to work there when it used to be a Rolls Royce site – the airplane engines, not the car bit!!

My wife loves HP, I think our 7 year old has seen films 1 and 2, but my wife stopped it at film 2, will let her see film 3 at some point I the future.

        1. Imogen Chloe says:

Oh no way, that’s so cool! I imagine it would be quite scary for a 7 year old but I’m sure she will enjoy it when she gets to watch it! πŸ˜€
