Walking In A Winter Wonderland

Over the weekend some friends from Portsmouth came to stay, we all studied on the NCTJ Journalism course together before I went to university. When they arrived I adopted the role of tour guide and we spent the weekend exploring London at Christmas, including Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

Can I even say that I’m a blogger in London if I don’t blog about my trip to Winter Wonderland? We didn’t just go there though, we also went to Liberty’s and Carnaby Street to see their Christmas lights. This post will be similar to my ‘My 22nd Birthday in Pictures’ post, you will be able to scroll through lots of photographs and experience what we experienced for yourself. Hope you enjoy!

Carnaby Street:

On Saturday lunchtime this was our first stop, my friend Lola wanted to see the Christmas lights here and they didn’t disappoint. The lights are actually the lyrics to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, this is to of course celebrate the release of the new film. Has anyone seen it?

After numerous selfies and photographs were taken we went somewhere very exciting, which we were all eager to visit after seeing the shop on Instagram.

Doughnut Time:

I’d heard of this shop before but never actually visited it and was reminded of it when I saw a friend’s photographs on Instagram, I showed Sasha, Shannon and Lola and we knew we had to go.

I went for the ‘A Very Terry Christmas’ doughnut (Chocolate orange glaze, Oreo crumb and Terry’s Chocolate Orange) and bought Cameron the ‘Santa Bae Bae’ doughnut (Vanilla buttercream, dark chocolate cookie pieces, chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate chips – unbeknownst to me this one is Vegan too). The girls also picked up some doughnuts for themselves and they were absolutely delicious.

I’d highly recommend you taking a visit, there’s plenty of shops across London too which is perfect! Go to the Doughnut Time website for more info (this post is not sponsored, they’re just fab doughnuts!).

Don’t they look good?

Winter Wonderland:

The main event! The trip originally didn’t go to plan as we arrived on Saturday evening, full of doughnuts and were told the wait was nearly an hour! Safe to say we went home, watched I’m a Celeb, ate our body-weight in chocolates and decided we’d go back on Sunday instead!

The next day we had such a lovely time wandering round Winter Wonderland, looking at the stalls and for the others, going on the rides too! We had Bratwurst sausages and chocolate crepes, which were delicious, as we battled to stay warm in the winter chill!

It was so lovely to spend time together, despite Sasha missing out on Winter Wonderland, as we don’t see each other as much as I’d like at all, but I’m so happy we’ve all stayed friends for years despite living far apart!

I’d definitely recommend visiting Winter Wonderland if you get the chance, I’d be careful though, it took us about half an hour just to find the exit! It’s a lot bigger than previous years! Even if you go just to see the lights and eat your body-weight in crepes, it’s definitely a good idea!

I hope that you have enjoyed this post and enjoyed having a peek at all the photographs from the weekend’s events!

An extra thank you to Sasha, Shannon and Lola for coming to visit and making the weekend so special! Let me know in the comments below if you are planning on making a trip to London for Christmas or if you have already been? You can find some more photographs over on my Instagram too!

All photography featured in this blog post is my own.

  1. You look like you had a fab time! Christmas in Carnaby looks amazing, I dont think I’ve ever been to Carnaby at Christmas. The worst Londoner award goes to yours truly haha. I’m yet to go to Winter Wonderland, I go every year but I think I’ll have to pay it a visit after Christmas, work is getting on top of me this year.

We really did, it was so much fun! I’ll be honest, I rarely go there, the only reason I went there so much last year is because I was a Christmas Elf at Hamleys so always passed it on my way to work!

Ah I feel the same, it’s still there in Jan which is quite nice and it is so much bigger than previous years too! Hope you enjoy when you do go exploring!

  2. Wow, this looks amazing Imogen! I used to go to London every year to see the Christmas lights but I haven’t been recently so it is lovely to see all your photos! Carnaby Street looks fantastically colourful and the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody is so cool. Those doughnuts look so tasty and eating your body-weight in crepes is a challenge I’ll always happily accept ha ha. Fab post, thanks for sharing your adventures! <3 xx

Ah that’s lovely to hear, I’m glad you can experience them a little through me! They were double sided which I didn’t realise at first but I feel like they had to to be able to fit as many of the lyrics down one street as possible!

Haha, it’s a great tasty challenge isn’t it? Thank you for reading, I’m glad you enjoyed it! xx

  3. That sounds like so much fun. Those Terry doughnuts sound delicious. It’s lovely that all of your friends went along with you.

  5. This is so cool Imogen, my holiday has been a little bit boring since my friends went home . Would have definitely suggested going to wonderland in India here, the place is also cool but I don’t think they would organise a winter wonderland thing . Would definitely visit London for this sometime . Looks like one of the things I should do before 30😁.

Awh that’s a shame, I hope you have a lovely Christmas holiday regardless though! Ooh maybe you should start one, you should definitely come to London though! 🙂

  11. I was down at Carnaby Street for a photo shoot funnily enough. The lights are so huge and colourful and I couldn’t resist taking pics of my own! As for Winter Wonderland it’s become a must do for me. More and more people I know are going and telling me how much of a wonderful time (pun unintended) they have. Glad Christmas is bringing you a lot to cheer about! Glad you enjoyed a big catchup with your mates 🙂

It was a fab weekend! It is very busy but it’s better to go on a weekday as the weekends get stupid and definitely, definitely don’t go at the beginning. It’ll still be cute in January and it’s open for the first week. Crepes are amazing, wish I ate them more! xx

  20. It looks like you had a great time & I love all the lights! Hopefully one day I will be able to visit London, but for now I’ll enjoy the Christmas lights and decorations in Copenhagen 😊
