Once upon a time…

Four words, four words which ignite an imagination in a child’s mind, the start of fairytales; where the lonely princess finds her prince, or rather he finds her. That’s all very well but there comes a point in a little girls life that they simply stop believing – perhaps not by choice but instead by the world around them.

Flash back to the childhood fairytales you were once read to help you get to sleep at night… Picturesque villages with a castle upon a hill, a princess guarded by a dragon perhaps? Waiting the majority of her life to see outside the bleak castle walls she has grown to feel comforted by, but more importantly awaiting a handsome prince on horseback, to ride away into the sunset with. Remember though, that point you realised that there was no dragon, you weren’t a princess, and unless, unless you were very lucky and perhaps slightly unfortunate, you won’t be rescued by the elusive prince.

The fact that reality and the world we live in isn’t perhaps what you dreamt of, but that doesn’t mean we should give up. Why shouldn’t we be allowed to continue to dream? Why shouldn’t we be allowed to go back to well, what were simpler times – times of letter writing, dancing and one of fairytale romances? For all you know you could be walking down the street in your favourite city and bump into the person you never knew you needed in your life.

Growing up, such dreams are obliterated, but once in a while it might surprise us that something magical could happen. The point of all this is simply to remember that regardless of what is going on right now, things can change, you as an individual can make them change and that can lead to extraordinary things. If you want to do something with your life whether it be a new career path, a new project or even something little like changing up your style – you can! You can do whatever you put your mind to which I think is a beautiful thing…

After all, “Every once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life, Love gives us a fairytale”.
