My Favourite London Spots

Hello everyone,

After a ‘very’ competitive Twitter poll you guys chose to see this post first, all about ‘My Favourite London Spots’ and there may be a couple which you aren’t expecting.

Tate Modern:

Now, I feel like everyone at least once in their life, if they live in London, has visited the Tate. I know I have several times but it isn’t actually the art which attracts me, in fact, the art often makes me very confused.

Obviously, one of the main reasons people go there is for the artwork inside but I go for a different reason.

You may not know but the Tate Modern has a viewing platform on the 10th floor which goes around the whole building and gives you amazing views of London. I’ve been before in the evening to photograph the sunset, the view is honestly amazing and it’s free too!

The opening times are as follows:

Sunday to Thursday 10.00 – 17.30
Friday to Saturday 10.00 – 22.00

Borough Market:

If you’re as much of a foodie as me then this is the place to go, you can experience and try different food whilst walking market stall to market stall.

It does get very busy so if you want to go when it is quieter then go in the afternoon, the stalls will be starting to close but there are still plenty of stalls up and running but without the crowds of people.

I went just two days ago when it was quieter and picked up some little treats, including theseΒ enormous strawberries – the photo does not do them justice. Of course, I couldn’t walk past the fudge stand without stopping, trying and buying either, it’s just too good!

The opening times are as follows:

Monday – Thursday 10.00 – 17.00
Friday 10.00 – 18.00
Saturday 08.00 – 17.00
Sunday CLOSED

The ‘Thames Seaside’:

Now, this is a brand new spot I found just last Monday whilst out exploring with my Mum and Dad. It was my Dad’s birthday and they were going for lunch at the OXO Tower and as I am already in London I met up with them.

After they’d had their lunch we went for a walk and spotted some people on the ‘beach’ right next to the Thames! Of course, we couldn’t let them have all the fun so climbed down the stairs and there we were, on a beach… in London! Bizarre I know!

It was such a nice little spot and perfect for Instagram photographs if you don’t fancy making a sand castle! We didn’t have time to make a castle but I did write a little birthday message in the sand for my Dad!

Hyde Park:

This a pretty obvious London spot, simply because it is one of the most well known places but it is still a favourite little spot of mine.

In the middle of the city, Hyde Park is the place to relax, eat and have fun – especially in the summer months. The Serpentine in particular is a beautiful place to enjoy some food, and you can even go boating on the lake! I am yet to do this but believe me when I say it is on my summer bucket list!

The gardens are beautiful as well and you can just relax and have a little escape in the middle of the busy city. Picnic in the park? Yes please!

Sky Garden:

The final place which is definitely a favourite spot of mine is the Sky Garden, which boasts spectacular views of the city and has as the name suggests a garden in the sky.

I have been fortunate enough to visit the Sky Garden on numerous occasions and have eaten in the ‘Darwin Brasserie’, one of restaurants at the very top. My friend once said that is the go to date for couples and cliche or not, the stunning views of the city can’t keep me away.

If you go in the evening you can enjoy looking across the city with a cocktail or two, but don’t worry, if it gets chilly they provide blankets for you too! I definitely need to visit in the summer / day light to appreciate the views even more.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about a few of my favourite London spots. Let me know of any of your favourites in the comments below.

I am going on a tour in August exploring the disused spaces of Charing Cross underground station, including under Trafalgar Square, so I will most likely be writing a post about that visit too.

Thank you reading and thank you for all the support each and every one of you have given my blog recently – can’t believe in under a week I have nearly reached 100 followers!

  8. Hyde Park is absolutely stunning but I was so allergic to it. I was sneezing up a storm and left the park with watery eyes and barely being able to breathe. But, I still loved it so much.
