Little Lemon Loaf

Hello lovely readers!

I thought I’d come and say hello on this sunny Tuesday with a little spot of lemon loaf baking which happened in the kitchen yesterday.

Like my chocolate brownies, I’ve always struggled trying to find a decent lemon loaf / cake recipe. The ones I have used before have always ended up dry or can barely pass as a lemon loaf, let alone a nice one!


I’m not sure about you but there is something about a lemon loaf which makes you feel like you’re not being naughty when really you are. This recipe does just this!

It’s again another ‘Goodfood’ recipe by Tana Ramsay, she needs a medal to be honest as this cake is fab! The recipe is super easy to follow but if you like your cakes extra lemon-y like mine then add some extra zest and a little bit of juice to the mix!


My only qualm with the recipe is that the baking time is a little off, it says cook for 45-50 minutes but my cake wasn’t done until about an 1hr 5mins. Don’t worry it has still turned out super moist, I think the extra lemon juice helped!

Once it was out I mixed up some caster sugar and lemon juice as the recipe said, using a little extra lemon juice again and drizzled it over the top of my cake. I must say it is very satisfying to see it all sink in!


Annoyingly you’ll have to make do with a photo of the cake when it was already cut (and half eaten) as I forgot to take before photos! Oops!

  4. Lovely post! I’m definitely going to have to try this one out. I’m not a huge lemony taste fan, but my boyfriend would love this. Also, I run into the same issue when taking pictures of my dishes β€˜uneaten’ (because my boyfriend immediately wants to dig in) lol. Thanks for sharing. πŸ’›

    I haven’t tried baking with lemons YET. Maybe I will one day!

  8. Pound cake is one of my favorite things! I’ll definitely have to try this sometime. Maybe even add a little bit of icing drizzled on top!

    1. Definitely should, there is icing on top of this one (lemon juice and icing sugar) but think a thicker buttercream type icing would also suit it perfectly! Enjoy! x
